Without their workhorse tailback of the last two seasons, the list of ways Oct. 31, 2024’s game could’ve gone for the Buccaneers ran quite long — but they certainly didn’t run longer than Bucky Irving did. Blending blazing speed into an “angry run,” Irving’s play began with a search for a left-side hole and a fearsome stiff arm, and ended with Irving on the field’s opposite side, punishing New Orleans for a 31-yard thriller. By afternoon’s end, Irving and his equally-patient teammate produced the third-most rushing yards in Buccaneers history (277), alongside a luxury as the fifth-ever team to produce a 300-yard and 275-yard rushing output simultaneously. One-half of a two-headed backfield monster, Irving tracked for 14 carries, 81 yards and a touchdown, and an additional two catches for 14 yards, steering Tampa Bay’s 51-27 win over the Saints.
