Still riding the highs of a 16-point second half comeback during the week prior, Stan Humphries found that with a ticket to Super Bowl XXIX in play, déjà vu — in more ways than one — proved attainable on Jan. 15, 1995. As fate would have it, the recipe for San Diego’s comeback kid called for not one, but two different right-sideline 43-yard touchdowns, rocket-armed throws that allowed the Chargers to erase Pittsburgh’s double-digit halftime lead. Adding to a storied résumé of come-from-behind wins that dated back to college, Humphries guided a 17-13 win over the vaunted Steelers defense, individually finishing with 165 yards (on 11-of-22 passing), alongside two scores.
