On two separate occasions during the Week1 matchup between the Buccaneers and Commanders, Tampa Bay receiver Mike Evans demonstrated that leaving him single-covered in the red zone is a massive mistake. On the first occasion, in the second quarter, Evans fought for positioning against the opposing cornerback and made an excellent over-the-shoulder grab for a 17-yard score. Later, in the fourth quarter, matched up against the same defender, Evans made a twisting, falling grab to haul in a floated pass from one yard out, gaining control between his legs before securing the ball. All told, Evans caught five passes for 61 yards and two touchdowns in the game, leading Tampa Bay to a season-opening, 37-20 win over Washington on Sept. 8, 2024.
