Trailing by nine with only a quarter remaining in their 2004 season, the New York Giants found themselves in need of big-play sequences in a hurry; as it turned out, a pair of three-yard gains from Tiki Barber would do just the trick. The comeback attempt’s first act of brilliance arrived at the 12-minute mark with Barber discovering a spot underneath the Dallas Cowboys’ zone for a three-yard touchdown catch, and then once more on an audibled, go-ahead run up the middle, leaving just 11 seconds remaining. The final carry — which gave Barber the Giants’ single-season rushing title (1,518 yards) — curtained an unforgettable night in which he turned 27 touches into 116 yards and a pair of touchdowns, encouraging a 28-24 victory on January 2, 2005.
